Overview
We are seeking an experienced French employment lawyer (Avocat) to join the Practical Law team. The role is for a Senior Specialist Legal Editor, responsible for creating and maintaining practical legal content in English for an international user base, while supporting the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions.
Responsibilities
* Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs.
* Review and edit content written by colleagues or external contributors.
* Stay up to date with legal, practice, and market developments to ensure content remains accurate and relevant.
* Use legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions and internal AI editorial tools.
* Develop a strong understanding of the legal market, customers, competitors, and emerging needs.
* Interact effectively with customers, consultation boards, contributors, and business stakeholders.
* Attend training events, conferences, and talks to network with customers and industry leaders.
* Assist with the development of Practical Law France and the broader Practical Law platform.
* Collaborate with product management, sales, marketing, and technology teams within Thomson Reuters.
Qualifications
Mandatory Skills and Experience
* French‑qualified lawyer (Avocat) with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience in employment law in France.
* Substantial experience of French employment law.
* Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
* Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and in teams.
* Strong technical skills and experience using generative AI technologies to enhance productivity and accuracy.
* Adaptability to work on diverse projects within the AI space and new emerging technologies.
* Passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely, and in plain English.
* Experience using AI tools in legal work and excellent knowledge of online research databases.
* Comfortable working in a matrixed environment and building relationships with diverse teams.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Proficient translation skills from French to English and vice versa.
Education / Certification
* Must be French bar qualified.
