As a contract research organization B‘SYS GmbH provides assistance to pharmaceutical settings in ion channel drug discovery. The company has a strong focus on cardiac as well as neuronal ion channels screening of new substances. We serve HTS Drug Discovery needs in lead identification and candidate selection.
Job Responsibilities
As a study director you will support our electrophysiology team by independently planning and conducting manual patch‑clamp studies on ion channel targets expressed in heterologous expression systems.
In this position you are responsible for communication with clients, project partners as well as members of the electrophysiology team, to ensure an efficient progress of studies. You are the point of contact for the conduct of your studies.
Other responsibilities will include performing the regular cell culture for ongoing studies, data analysis, interpretation and presentation as well as literature review as a basis for study reporting. Furthermore, you will be responsible to maintain high quality standards in a GLP environment and will also contribute to new ion channel cell line target validation which are developed in-house.
Your Profile
For this position, a solid education (MSc/PhD level) in ion channel physiology/pharmacology research, with at least 3 to 5 years hands on experience in manual patch‑clamp recordings is an essential requirement. In addition, you should have experience with cell culture techniques and experience in characterising protein transporters using electrophysiological techniques. You are familiar with automated electrophysiology platforms.
Desirable
Previous experience in a CRO/pharmaceutical industry setting is advantageous
Previous hands‑on experience in HPLC‑UV/ LC-MS/MS
Experience using automated electrophysiological platforms
Experience in electronic circuit design and PCB layout is a plus
Intermediate to advanced programming skills in C++ and Python
You enjoy working within a small team, are self‑motivated, independent and customer orientated. Social skills and reliability come naturally to you. Good spoken and written English is a mandatory requirement for this position.
