Ph3Job Description /h3 pAre you a strategic commercial leader ready to drive meaningful impact in the pharmaceutical industry? We are looking for an exceptional Business Unit Director to join our Affiliate Leadership Team and take full ownership of a high‑performing Commercial Unit. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a results‑oriented professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and people development. /p h3About the Role /h3 pThe Business Unit Director holds overall accountability for an assigned Commercial Unit, with a focus on both long‑term strategy and day‑to‑day operations. As a core member of the Affiliate Leadership Team (ALT), you will shape commercial direction, lead high‑performing teams, and partner with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver sustainable business results. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liDrive and own the Commercial Unit's Profit Loss (PL), coordinating and validating financial processes and Commercial models before integration into the plan book. /li liLead the strategic planning process across all Brands within the division – reviewing, signing off, and resourcing plans to ensure successful implementation. /li liHold overall accountability for Commercial operations strategy and manage day‑to‑day commercial activities across the unit. /li liCollaborate across Brand functions, building a culture of cooperation and resolving conflicts in priorities to keep teams aligned and effective. /li liCoach, develop, and assess Brand Team Leaders (BTLs) and the wider division team against defined KPIs, providing continuous, constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement. /li liActively participate in Sales Operations Planning (SOP), presenting and defending current market developments and demand forecasts. /li liContribute meaningfully to Affiliate business planning processes. /li liBuild and maintain strong networks with Area and WEC colleagues, and liaise effectively with key Company stakeholders. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liMaster’s degree, with a preference for Marketing or Economics. /li liProven experience in a senior commercial role within the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sector. /li liSpecialty Care experience is preferred but not required. Experience across Immunology, Oncology, and related therapeutic areas is also valued. /li liSolid understanding of financial processes and company planning procedures. /li liBroad knowledge of non‑commercial functions and the ability to work effectively across disciplines. /li liAwareness of how local and global events influence business plans, strategies, and organisational priorities. /li liA track record of people leadership at varying levels of seniority and cross‑functional experience. /li liAbility to stay current with evolving marketing and sales trends. /li liConfidence communicating business needs at C‑suite executive level. /li liWillingness and ability to relocate internationally for future assignments within the company in the mid‑term. /li /ul h3Critical Skills /h3 ul liStrategic thinking: Ability to create business strategies that balance short‑term requirements with long‑range plans, and to align your area’s priorities with the broader organisational direction. /li liInspirational leadership: Lead and motivate multi‑disciplinary teams by modelling the right behaviours, encouraging open exchange of ideas, and leveraging cross‑functional learning. /li liDecisive problem‑solving: Make difficult decisions under pressure, anticipate challenges, develop contingency plans, and act swiftly to resolve issues. /li liPeople development: Recognise, reward, and promote individuals based on performance, potential, and competency development. /li liPerformance management: Set clear and comprehensive goals, communicate expectations, and deliver timely and balanced feedback with appropriate follow‑through. /li /ul h3Equal Employment Opportunity Statement /h3 pAbbVie is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to operating with integrity, driving innovation, transforming lives and serving our community.
