The position is within the Cat Tools and Technology team, which is part of the Catastrophe Underwriting Office responsible for research, modeling, pricing, and portfolio analytics of natural catastrophes (Cat).
The Tools and Technology team is leading the developments of all the Cat applications in collaboration with IT to drive innovation and efficiency in managing risk of natural catastrophes.
About the role :
This temporary role supports the Cat Tools and Technology team in ongoing projects focusing on improving the reporting and analytics capabilities of the Catastrophe Underwriting Office unit.
In more detail your main tasks are to :
* Enhance our existing reporting dashboard to improve efficiency and accuracy in assessing data quality and drivers of portfolio changes.
* Replace existing Excel reports and integrate them into R Shiny dashboard.
* Automate the production of existing reports through R Markdown.
The role will be based in Zurich.
Qualifications
About you :
You are passionate to apply your strong quantitative skills to the development of tools supporting the automation of processes and delivering business solutions.
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications and personal qualities :
* Master degree in computer science, data science, natural sciences (Climatology, Hydrology, Seismology, or similar), or a related quantitative field
* Strong programming skills in R or Python and knowledge in databases (e.g., SQL or Snowflake)
* Knowledge of R Shiny and R Markdown is a plus
* Interest in data manipulation and data visualization
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Pro-active, solution oriented with a high level of self initiative
* Ability to work well in a team and to contribute towards common goals
* Proficient (written and verbal) in English
