This is a high‑impact leadership role responsible for driving the scientific strategy, technical excellence, and organizational growth that power Expedia’s global supply business.This leader will partner closely with Supply business stakeholders, Product, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Analytics to shape and execute the AI/ML vision that unlocks better performance, marketplace efficiency, and long‑term business value.You will serve as a manager of managers, a trusted thought partner to senior leadership, and a domain expert across multiple scientific disciplines including machine learning, causal inference, optimization, and generative AI.What you’ll doStrategic Leadership & VisionDefine, evolve, and execute the long‑term AI/ML strategy for Expedia’s Supply organization, aligning with company goals and supply business priorities.Cross‑Functional PartnershipBuild strong relationships with Supply business executives and cross‑functional leaders (Strategy, Operations, Product, Engineering, Analytics).Partner with senior leadership to incorporate AI/ML solutions into strategic planning, supply growth, partner engagement, and operational efficiency.Communicate complex scientific concepts in clear, actionable ways to non‑technical stakeholders.Team Leadership & People ManagementLead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team of managers and applied scientists.Attract top talent and build long‑term talent pipelines.Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, and inclusive leadership.Provide career development, coaching, and performance management for a multi‑level organization.Scientific & Technical ExcellenceOversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of large‑scale AI/ML models that optimize supply health and partner performance.Guide technical direction in two or more areas such as machine learning, causal inference, optimization, or generative AI.Ensure scientific rigor, reproducibility, and responsible AI standards.Collaborate with engineering teams to operationalize models in production environments.Innovation & Applied GenAIDrive innovation in generative AI applications for supply partner experience, operational automation, or supply intelligence.Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate how Expedia can leverage them for competitive advantage.Experience and qualificationsAdvanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, or a related field and 10+ years of people leadership experience, including managing managers and scaling applied science teams.Proven track record leading AI/ML organizations that deliver measurable business impact.A strong willingness to dive into data details when needed—comfortable reviewing code, analysis, model behaviour, and experiment performance to ensure scientific rigour and unblock teams.Deep expertise in two or more scientific domains: Machine Learning, Causal Inference & Experimentation, Optimization, Generative AI.Strong executive‑level communication skills with the ability to influence business strategy through data and science.Experience delivering AI/ML solutions in large‑scale production systems.
