The Role
We are looking for an experienced Trade Finance Officer to join our EMEA team, supporting the financing of Oil and Hard Commodities trading activities. This is a central, high-impact role sitting close to the trading desk, with direct exposure to transactions, banks, and key internal stakeholders. You will manage day-to-day trade finance activities, ensuring smooth execution of financing structures while actively managing risk.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage daily financing requirements across commodity portfolios (crude, oil products, and related commodities)
* Execute and manage documentary instruments including Letters of Credit (LCs), SBLCs, guarantees, and bonds (issuance, amendments, confirmations, discounting)
* Review contracts and supporting documentation; negotiate key terms with banks and counterparties
* Monitor and control document discrepancies, ensuring clean presentations under LCs
* Oversee inventory financing: monitoring, reporting, and resolving financing issues
* Manage shipping documentation with banks and external parties
* Maintain strong relationships with financing banks and partners
* Monitor and report financing positions and individual trades to stakeholders and banks
* Partner closely with traders, operations, credit, treasury, legal, and other internal teams
* Operate independently under tight timelines, making sound, risk-based decisions
Profile
* 5+ years’ experience in Trade Finance within commodities (oil & hard commodities), ideally from a bank or trading environment
* Strong hands‑on experience with LCs, SBLCs, guarantees, and related instruments
* Solid knowledge of UCP600, ISBP, ISP98, URDG, and Incoterms
* Good understanding of physical trading operations, shipping, and inventory financing
* Proven ability to assess and manage risk in transaction execution
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Detail-oriented, structured, and able to handle multiple priorities under pressure
* Comfortable working independently and driving transactions to completion
