Communications Officer
MSF is seeking a Communications Officer to develop and implement effective communication strategies for our mission. The role involves managing media relations, producing communication materials, and training team members on external communication.
Define, review, and implement the communication strategy, advising on positioning and identifying communication opportunities.
Handle media requests and proactively contact local media to promote MSF.
Organize media events, press conferences, and facilitate visits to project sites for journalists and photographers.
Monitor local media, report significant articles, trends, and news relevant to MSF.
Produce reports on the local media landscape, including key media, audience, ownership, and social media use.
Act as a spokesperson during emergencies to manage media pressure.
Manage MSF's social media accounts, including content creation and moderation.
Develop communication tools such as PR materials, leaflets, brochures, radio spots, articles, photos, and videos.
Train project team members on external communication as needed.
Identify staffing needs for communications, manage, coach, and develop team members.
Collaborate with communication and operational colleagues.
Responsibilities may evolve based on project needs, with support from MSF team members and guidelines provided.
Requirements:
Degree in journalism, communications, humanitarian affairs, political science, or related field.
Minimum of four years of international experience in communications, journalism, or public relations.
At least one year of experience in developing countries or unstable contexts.
Ability to analyze operational information and translate it into communication materials.
Skills in social media management and community engagement.
Knowledge of audio-visual content creation and production.
Native English speaker or proven track record in English editing; fluency in additional languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian) is an asset.
Availability for at least six months.
