Ready to dive into the fast-paced world of real-time data? In this internship, you'll get hands-on with two of the biggest names in stream processing: Apache Flink and Apache Spark. You'll explore, compare, and experiment with these frameworks while building near real-time data pipelines powered by Apache Kafka.
Your mission: take raw event streams—from databases or web activity logs—and turn them into actionable insights. Along the way, you'll test the performance, scalability, and practicality of each framework. By the end, you'll deliver clear benchmarks, recommendations, and guidelines to help teams pick the right tool for the job.
Objectives
* Learn the fundamentals of Kafka, Flink, and Spark: architecture, use cases, and streaming concepts
* Build your first pipeline: process streaming data from a single source using Kafka + Flink/Spark
* Take it up a notch: implement a more complex pipeline
Database → Debezium → Kafka → Flink/Spark → Operational & Analytical Queries
* Handle multiple tables, implement watermarking, and ensure synchronized processing
* Compare Flink and Spark on performance, ease of use, and suitability for different scenarios
* Document your findings and propose practical guidelines for framework selection

Skills required
* Good understanding of programming (Python, Java, or Scala)
