UX/UI Designer
The Business Computing group, within the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), is responsible for developing and maintaining a wide range of support applications essential for the operations of the organization. We are currently seeking a UX/UI Designer to contribute to enhancing the usability of our diverse portfolio of applications.
Your responsibilities:
* Design wireframes, prototypes, and user interfaces for web-based and mobile applications.
* Implement user-centered design principles to create intuitive and visually appealing interfaces.
* Develop and maintain UI design patterns and style guides to ensure consistency across applications.
* Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to iterate and improve designs.
* Work closely with developers to implement designs and ensure design integrity throughout the development process.
* Maintain, coordinate, and contribute to the CERN Design System to ensure coherence and reusability across the application landscape.

Skills:
* UX/UI Design and Design Systems: Ability to design intuitive and visually appealing interfaces for web and mobile applications, with strong proficiency in design tools (especially Figma) and in creating, maintaining, and contributing to design systems to ensure consistency and reusability across applications.
* Understanding of User-Centered Design Principles: Knowledge of fundamental principles of user-centered design and iterative design methodology to address user needs and expectations.
* User Research: Ability to conduct user research, gather relevant data on user needs and behaviors, and utilize this information to inform design decisions.
* Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and to present and justify designs.
* User Testing and Feedback: Ability to conduct usability testing and gather feedback to assess and improve designs iteratively.
* Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.
* By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Design, Graphic design (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
* Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
* Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
We offer a monthly stipend ranging between 5196 and 5716 Swiss Francs (net of tax), coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme, and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
