To strengthen its Life Sciences team, the School of Engineering invites applications for the position of Professor UAS in Cell Biology and Bioassay Systems (80-100%).

Your mission
* Provide high-quality teaching in cell biology, physiology, biochemistry and related laboratory methods in Bachelor and Master programs.
* Establish, lead and grow an externally funded applied research program focused on the development and application of cell-based in vitro models for digital and automated testing systems (e.g. Microphysiological systems, advanced cell assays, 3D cell cultures, organoids, high-content screening).
* Develop innovative, application-oriented research projects in close collaboration with industrial and clinical partners in diagnostics, pharma, biotechnology, medtech or related sectors, focusing on advanced bioassay systems.
* Supervise Bachelor and Master student projects and theses and actively integrate students into research and development activities.
Your profile
* PhD in Cell Biology or a related life sciences discipline with a strong focus on cell-based analytical systems.
* Strong research track record demonstrated by publications, competitive funding and/or recognised applied research achievements.
* Established research profile in eukaryotic cell biology, with a focus on the development and implementation of innovative in vitro cell models (2D/3D systems, spheroids, organoids) for applications such as drug screening, toxicology, functional cell-based assays or diagnostics.
* Strong interest in digitalisation, including omics-based readouts, data-driven analysis, biosensor and imaging-based assays and computational (AI-supported) methods.
* Passionate about teaching and training students in applied sciences and practice-oriented environments.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to operate in a multidisciplinary academic-industrial environment.
* Fluent in English, proficiency in French or German.
