Main responsibilities:
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial health and
integrity of World Aquatics. The role ensures accurate financial reporting,
compliance with regulatory standards, strong internal controls, and the strategic
support of organizational goals through financial insight and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
• Lead the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial statements in accordance with IFRS/Swiss GAAP.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to executive leadership and external
stakeholders, including audit committees and governing bodies.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget in collaboration with departmental
leads and provide variance analysis.
• Oversee the audit process and act as the primary liaison with external
auditors.
• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures across
all programs.
• Monitoring and balancing cash flows
• Managing banking relationships
• Contribute actively in the ERP process improvement.
Strategic Planning & Analysis
• Provide financial insight to support strategic planning, long-term
forecasting, and decision-making across departments (e.g., event planning,
marketing, development programs).
• Support commercial activities with financial modelling, contract review, and
revenue forecasting for major events, partnerships, and broadcast rights.
• Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis and corrective
actions.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, organizational policies, and
international accounting standards.
• Monitor and improve financial risk management systems and ensure
compliance with Swiss and international financial regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and lead improvements in financial
systems and processes.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
• Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering professional development
and high standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Events,
Operations, Legal, Development and Commercial to ensure financial
alignment.
• Act as a key partner to the CFO and executive team.
Profile required
Education, Language and IT Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or Economics, Master’s degree
preferred.
• CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualifications are strongly preferred.
• Fluency (both written and oral) in English. Good knowledge of French,
Spanish or other language skills a plus.
Experience and skills:
• Minimum 7-10 years of progressive finance experience, including 2+ years
in a similar position.
• Prior experience in international organizations, sports governing bodies, or
event-driven environments is a strong asset.
• Proficiency with financial software – Business Central a must
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail, integrity and a commitment to transparency.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural, and multilingual
environment.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach to addressing challenges.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced,
multicultural environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Culturally sensitive with experience working with global stakeholders.
