An Application Manager acts as the primary point of contact between business owners and the IT organization at the Visp site. He/she owns the full lifecycle of assigned applications, including application understanding, configuration and customization, if appropriate. He/she coordinates the application embedding in the current IT landscape, interfaces to other apps and assures IT security and governance based on defined standards. Establish and contribute to up‑to‑date documentation (Basic System Design Specification a.o.). Manages the application according to the agreed SLAs, OLAs and ensures adherence. Acts as System Owner defined in the company's document GROUP-226.
Responsibilities
Works closely with business stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into an IT solution/application.
Review, interpret and respond to detailed business requirements specifications to ensure alignment between customer expectations and current or future IT application functionality.
Ensures applications remain compliant, secure, supported, and up to date.
Perform hands‑on application configuration and customization (if applicable) in combination with routine maintenance of IT infrastructure components, including servers and related systems.
Interact with different IT teams (infra, network, interface, IT‑SEC, Enterprise Architecture) and with 3‑party providers (if applicable).
Support day‑to‑day operational activities for Visp local IT applications, ensuring stability, availability, and compliance with standards.
Contribute to delivery project work according to the overall standards and concepts.
Technology scouting and run proofs of concept / propose new solutions, liaise with vendors and define global IT infrastructure standards in storage, backup and laboratory software.
Ensure solutions are implemented and documented in compliance with standards and documentation is constantly updated.
Expected split between on‑site and remote work is 40% / 60%.
Language requirement
English fluent, German business fluent.
Education
Required: BAS in IT. Preferred: MCSE – IT system engineering.
Skills
5–10 years experience in Application Management and IT system engineering.
Founded system engineer and system architecture understanding (minimum 5 years in IT).
Application lifecycle management (deploy, configure, optimize, upgrade, troubleshoot, backup/restore).
Knowledge in network/database/application deployment, IT security, client‑server etc.
Ability to work in a dynamic, cross‑functional environment; actively help to improve/establish processes.
Strong structured and analytical thinking, problem‑solving attitude.
General understanding of GxP.
Stakeholder management (business and IT).
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cultures.
Open and engaging personality.
Fluent in English and German.
