GMD System Project Engineer (80-100%) Join ABB’s dynamic engineering team to design and implement cutting‑edge Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) systems, ensuring seamless project execution, cost efficiency, and technical excellence.
Responsibilities
Design or co‑design technical solutions for Gearless Mill Drive systems (GMD), including clarification and coordination of all relevant engineering aspects during project execution
Conduct cost streamlining and ensure project targets are met fully, in addition to carrying out inspections and performing factory acceptance tests
Oversee or assist with commissioning and maintenance of GMD systems at customer sites worldwide, including troubleshooting
Issue and review technical specifications, data sheets, project documents, and customer documentation work in close cooperation with the Team Leader for co‑managing costs, schedules, and quality, thereby improving profitability and ensuring customer satisfaction
Qualifications
B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering; emphasis on Power Electronics/Drive Technology essential for candidates with no prior work experience
3‑5 years' experience in drive technology (or graduate without work experience for junior role)
Technical knowledge of drive system engineering as well as experience relating to commissioning and service activities
Well‑developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a multicultural environment
Proficient command of English at a technical/engineering level (both written and spoken)
Willingness to travel on global commissioning and service assignments to remote sites (approximately 25% of working hours and up to several weeks per assignment)
