Development Engineer - Mechatronics We at VAT Group AG, headquartered in Switzerland, invite a both talented and visionary Development Engineer to join our SSG (Semiconductor Solutions Group) - one of our most valued Departments. This particular Development Engineer role is created for our Mechatronics Unit (Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Control Systems). Partners side by side with our Senior Development Engineers and the supporting team, you will design, develop and improve our smart systems/machines that bring together mechanics, electronics, control systems and software. Possessing good knowledge in the Semiconductor industry and bringing strong expertise in mechatronic systems, plus taking full ownership of complex projects and product development is exactly the kind of drive and experience we value in our future colleague.

YOUR CHALLENGES Design and development of cutting-edge mechatronic systems and products
Design, dimension, and commission of stepper, BLDC, and servo motor solutions
PLC Control Systems: Select and configure PLCs, I/O modules, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces
Program PLCs for process and motion control, as well as system diagnostics, using structured programming languages
Partner with interdisciplinary teams to bring complex system solutions to life
Define and set up test environments to verify and validate products
Create and maintain clear technical documentation across the development lifecycle
Provide expert guidance during product initialization and deliver second-level technical assistance when needed
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years in developing mechatronic systems, including drive technologies and sensor integration
Strong knowledge of PLC hardware integration (I/O modules, sensors, actuators, industrial communication protocols)
Proficient in PLC software development, including structured programming, motion control, and system diagnostics
Systematic, proactive, hands-on, and focused on delivering results efficiently
Fluent in English; basic German skills are a plus
