Your mission
As part of the Optimization Services team, you will design, develop, deploy, and support Data Science models for our systems and applications.
The Optimization Services team specializes in multi-market, multi-asset short-term power trading optimization. We are part of the Gas & Power IT department within TotalEnergies, headquartered in Geneva with global presence (Singapore, Houston, Dubai, etc.).
TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) manages complex, evolving systems to support expanding power trading activities, leveraging Data Science and Mathematical Constrained Optimization, notably MILP.
This global role focuses on tools used by the front office and their integration into energy management systems, ensuring performance, availability, resilience, and scalability.
Activities
What you will do
Your main focus will be on Data Science models within the Optimization Services team, primarily based on Mathematical Constrained Optimization (MILP). You will collaborate mainly with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and Back-end Developers.
Analyze:
* Understand business context and specifications
* Assess technical and functional feasibility
* Participate in design authority processes
Produce:
* Design, develop, and deploy functionalities aligned with business needs
* Monitor and test to ensure proper functioning
* Integrate models seamlessly into applications
* Balance model accuracy with computational complexity
* Refine deliverables based on feedback
* Follow best practices and internal guidelines for development, testing, and deployment
* Maintain compliance with audit, cybersecurity, and other standards
Run & Change:
* Enhance existing applications based on evolving business priorities
* Support ongoing application maintenance
Communicate:
* Work with Back-end Developers for feature integration and interoperability
* Provide technical support to Business Analysts and other stakeholders
* Document code and algorithms for maintenance and knowledge sharing
* Coordinate effectively with other teams
* Contribute to the Data Science community within the organization
Candidate Profile
We expect candidates to have:
* A background in Data Science or Optimization with strong software development skills
* Experience with Mathematical Constrained Optimization, especially MILP
* Proficiency in Python and best coding practices
* Interest in power trading
* The ability to quickly understand power asset mechanisms (e.g., batteries)
* Master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related fields
It’s a plus if you also have:
* Knowledge of AI/ML and data analytics in power trading
* Experience with Agile and project management methodologies
* Background in power utilities or trading environments
* Skills in DevOps tools (Docker, Git, GitHub Actions)
* Knowledge of noSQL databases (MongoDB)
* Experience with Databricks and cloud environments
