Overview
Professorship (Open Rank) in Models of Care and Nursing Interventions at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) within the Competence Centre for Healthcare Practices and Policies (CPPS) and the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS). The rank (Associate or Full Professor) is determined by qualifications and experience, in accordance with SUPSI guidelines.
Professional context
The CPPS conducts applied research on clinical-care processes and the socio-political systems that frame them. Its objective is to develop and promote effective, ethical, and socially sustainable health practices and policies that prioritize safety and wellbeing of patients, families, and health professionals. CPPS has strong local ties and engaging activities at national and international levels. Research topics include health professions and their transformations, experiences of illness, care and health behaviours, organization of health systems, and technologies in relation to health professions and health behaviours.
Roles and responsibilities
Research and service
* Exercise scientific seniority in the thematic areas of care models and nursing interventions, conducting research projects and publishing scientific articles relevant to the topic.
* Acquire and coordinate research and service mandates with local, national, and international outreach.
* Promote dynamic collaborations with stakeholders in their field of activity, maintaining strong links with local institutions and with national and international academic and professional networks.
Teaching
* Carry out curriculum/module development and teaching activities, making a significant contribution to the undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education offer.
* Actively and collegially participate in the development of the Department's training portfolio.
Leadership/management
* Assume the leadership of research projects from both a scientific and managerial perspective.
* Ensure the financial sustainability of projects.
* Participate in the development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary activities of the CPPS, in synergy with colleagues, other DEASS competence centres, and other SUPSI departments.
Skills profile and requirements
* PhD in Nursing Sciences.
* Relevant scientific portfolio on topics of interest for this position.
* Proven research experience in universities, universities of applied sciences, or other research institutes, with acquisition and leadership of projects and service mandates.
* Recognised membership in relevant scientific communities at national and international levels.
* Significant and recognized experience in university teaching.
* Contribution to the development of the home institution in their professional career.
* Proven experience in transferring knowledge to the broader social context.
* Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
* Attitude for collaborative research.
Additional preferred criteria
* Teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one within 4 years of appointment).
* Knowledge of the Swiss university system and the social-healthcare context in Ticino.
* Knowledge of German and/or French, in addition to Italian and English.
* Proven experience in clinical nursing practice and/or nursing management.
