The Marketing Group at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Basel, invites applications for a postdoctoral position with Prof. C. Miguel Brendl. This position is new and complements another postdoctoral position recently advertised in our group. Candidates may apply to both.
The postdoc will work primarily on one of the following projects:
Project A – Synthetic Data for Behavioral Research
We examine how large language models (LLMs) generate synthetic responses to psychological experiments and compare these responses with human data. The work involves theory-guided prompting and collaboration between behavioral and computer scientists. Theoretical knowledge in a behavioral domain is important.
Project B – Understanding and Countering Misinformation
We investigate how emotions influence belief in true and false claims and evaluate interventions that can reduce belief in false information. The work includes experiments and online field studies.
This is a two-year position at 80% employment grade, with the possibility of extension. Additional compensation in addition to the 80% employment contract may be available. Teaching responsibilities (max. 20%) include grading, preparing of exam questions, and supervising theses. German is not required. Additional compensation may be available.
