Role Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for specific direct material categories. You will manage the supplier portfolio, develop category strategies to find the best-fit suppliers, and ensure cost-effective material availability for production in Switzerland, Austria, and the USA. You will be the key person for supplier consolidation, leveraging savings potential, establishing economies of scale, and building long-term relationships. You will manage a global commodity category and guide purchasing volumes.
Conduct procurement market research, classify potential suppliers, and evaluate and develop existing suppliers.
Develop and implement procurement strategies focusing on machined parts and plastics.
Identify and implement potential cost savings.
Negotiate contracts according to company regulations.
Serve as the contact person for procurement-related questions for upstream and downstream departments.
Advise project purchasing and R&D on supplier allocation for parts and assemblies.
Ensure efficient procurement and logistics processes, and continuously develop them.
Maintain material availability and develop the supplier base in response to demand changes.
Candidate Profile
We value passion and talent alongside technical skills.
Technical education with further training in Category Management or Strategic Procurement.
Experience in Category Management or Strategic Procurement within a technical industrial company.
Technical knowledge of machined tool parts and plastics is a major asset.
Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
Strong knowledge of national and international supplier markets.
Proficiency in SAP and MS Office.
