Candidates with previous experience working at Microsoft Corporation, either as a full-time employee (FTE) or contractor, are strongly preferred.
Summary:
The FastTrack Readiness team is seeking an experienced technical editor with excellent communication skills and experience in preparing technical readiness materials and customer-facing documentation for a global audience. This person will also be responsible for managing small projects across v-teams and communicating status. The FastTrack Readiness team is responsible for creating and maintaining change management and new hire readiness material as well as customer-facing documentation across the entire FastTrack program. The team works in collaboration with product groups, operations, development, and delivery teams to ensure that our team members are informed and trained to effectively assist customers to deploy and onboard Microsoft 365 plans and services.
Responsibilities include:
1. Analyze, interpret and simplify technical, operational and readiness documentation currently in use.
2. Prepare documentation and videos for publication and localization (both internal and customer-facing use); including process documents, technical articles, guides, reports and some limited graphics.
3. Ensure all documentation aligns with Microsoft standards including formatting, quality and accuracy standards as outlined in the Microsoft Writing Style Guide, Accessibility and Term usage standards and Brand Central.
4. Manage and regularly communicate on project timelines and expectations across multiple stakeholders.
5. Assist with content management to ensure content stays fresh and relevant.
Capabilities:
1. 3+ years experience in a technical writing role.
2. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
3. Microsoft 365 product experience or knowledge.
4. Technical expertise with products such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia or Clipchamp, GitHub, Markdown and .xml.
5. Familiarity and ability to manage work in Azure Dev Ops.
6. Strong project management and communication skills.
7. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
8. Ability to handle ambiguity and multi-task.
9. Proven track record of working with a remote team.
10. Work experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot a plus.
The purpose of the Fast Track Learn team manages internal training, customer-facing documentation, and customer-facing webinars and videos. They handle all the editing for Microsoft standards and their own standards, as well as the publishing of this content.
Key projects: This role will contribute to general responsibilities of the Fast Track Learn team.
Candidate Requirements
1. Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
2. Degrees or certifications required: No degree is required to be eligible for this role.
3. Disqualifiers: Candidates with all previous job titles being very technical in nature would indicate a lack of experience in writing and communication and will not be eligible for the role.
4. Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would have experience in a fast-paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proactive mindset. They should be proficient in Markdown in GitHub, Clipchamp, and Azure DevOps.
5. Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work, which encompasses both the output and how they work, including speed and efficiency.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
1. Minimum 2 years experience with managing queues, generating tasks and creating and running queries in Azure DevOps (ADO).
2. Minimum 2-3 years experience with Project management (track and report on timelines, generate status reports and work plans).
3. Minimum 4 years experience with Stakeholder management.
