As part of the Department (SY), you will develop and refine your electronics skills, working with experts from around the globe on cutting-edge projects that measure and control powerful particle beams. You will join the department responsible for the beam-related technical systems of the CERN accelerators. The SY teams design, build, and operate equipment systems across all CERN accelerators and are engaged in ambitious R&D programs. The position will be in the relevant section of the department.
As an electronics technician, you will:
* Participate in testing and measuring tunnel and surface modules in CERN accelerators, including the Large Hadron Collider (LHC);
* Design test benches with laboratory instrumentation and custom electronics;
* Design and layout printed circuit boards;
* Use advanced instruments such as high-end oscilloscopes, VNAs, and logic analyzers;
* Develop Python scripts for controlling laboratory instruments and test benches.
Qualifications
Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in electronics or a related field.
Experience:
Required experience with:
* Soldering of SMD components;
* Use of laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies;
* Fault diagnosis in electronic circuits.
Desired experience with:
* Knowledge of CAD software such as Altium or KiCad;
* Knowledge of Python;
* Testing and measurement of analog and digital circuits;
* Design and simulation of electronic circuits;
* Layout of electronic circuit boards;
* Design and development of systems based on standardized modules;
* Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
