Role Description
* The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all HR activities within a defined set of vessels. They act as an HR partner to Senior Officers onboard and advise on HR matters, supporting Viking’s Employee Performance Review processes.
* The HR Manager reports to the Director of Human Resources. This position is based at our Operational Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Eligibility to work in Switzerland or possession of a valid work permit is required.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage HR administration and crew wellbeing effectively and in compliance with regulations.
* Maintain employee records.
* Prepare employment contract documents and support visa applications.
* Coordinate HR needs with the Corporate Operations Manager (COM).
* Ensure timely recruitment of crew with the necessary quality.
* Maintain relations with the core team, recruiting, and payroll departments.
* Act as employee relations agent to ensure compliance.
* Monitor staff satisfaction and implement improvements with the COM.
* Assist with deployment of management positions onboard.
* Support onboard Senior Officers with HR administration and vacation planning.
* Assist the training department with seasonal start-up training.
* Conduct ship visits to foster relations and manage crew performance reviews.
Key Qualifications
* At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar HR role.
* Fluent in English and German, both written and verbal.
* Proficient with MS Office and administrative tasks.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Independent, service-oriented, guest-focused.
* Positive, organized, flexible, team player, creative, stress-resistant, resilient.
Education
* Graduated education in hotel or tourism industry.
Nice to Have Qualifications
* International experience or experience on a ship is advantageous.
