The Program Accountant position performs accounting and financial functions for the Sisters of Charity Health System ministries in South Carolina while supporting the Health System finance team with financial reporting and other functions as directed. This position reports to the Executive Director and the Health System Controller.
Qualifications
* Education - Bachelor's degree with a business major in accounting
* Experience - Previous accounting / financial experience, personal computers and accounting-related software
* Ability - Function well as part of a team. Perform established duties with minimum supervision and interacts positively with non-accounting personnel

Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance and safety standards
* Keeps informed of generally accepted accounting principles and standards affecting not-for-profit accounting
* Enters accounts payable invoices weekly into the general ledger system, ensuring appropriate support/approval and posting to the proper account and funding source
* Prepares weekly/monthly billings as directed
* Prepares weekly cash deposits as needed
* Functions as a financial resource to the Executive Director
* Coordinates all efforts with the Health System finance team; communicates regularly with the Controller and follows all Health System finance policies
* Assists in the development of grant budgets, works with the finance team on cost allocations, monitors funding sources to ensure all funds are appropriately used, and expenses are funded
* Works with the finance team to maintain accounting records of grants and ensure compliance with all financial requirements
* Supports the Executive Director and works with the finance team in the development of the annual operating budget
* Enhances professional growth through participation in educational program
