ING is a world-leading universal bank with activities across various continents and countries, including Switzerland. ING Switzerland is currently seeking a Senior Credit Risk Officer to strengthen its Credit Risk team.
ING Switzerland has experienced rapid growth, serving clients mainly in Trade and Commodity Finance, as well as in the general industries sector, focusing on large Swiss corporates and international company branches. The local commercial activities are supported by a team of dedicated credit risk officers committed to maintaining a balanced risk approach. The Credit Risk team is part of the local Risk Organization, which includes Compliance and Operational Risk, and focuses on TCF clients, Corporate clients, and ESG risk.
Position: Senior Credit Risk Officer focusing on the Corporate clients portfolio
Tasks and responsibilities:
1. Conducts in-depth analysis of credit applications submitted by account management, including financial, business, structural, and country risk assessments.
2. Shares the risk appetite proactively with the account management team to foster a common risk culture, providing guidance on structuring facilities (covenants, tenors).
3. Maintains active communication with account management regarding portfolio management, client development, and upcoming proposals.
4. Prepares written credit opinions during the credit application process for local and global decision-makers, highlighting key risks, mitigants, and suggestions for improvement.
5. Ensures the quality and consistency of credit applications and verifies compliance with ING's credit policies.
6. May hold an alternative decision-making mandate for reviews and applications.
7. Reviews legal documentation in collaboration with Legal, oversees post-approval follow-up, and reviews/approves risk ratings.
8. Participates in internal and regulatory projects and reporting activities.
Qualifications and competencies:
1. Master's degree in accounting, finance, econometrics, international business; CFA preferred.
2. Minimum of 8 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in credit risk or a similar role such as lending analyst or account manager.
3. Strong knowledge of corporate banking concepts, loan documentation, and credit analysis.
4. Good understanding of trade finance, payment and cash management, debt capital markets, financial markets, and lending products.
5. High integrity and professionalism.
6. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
7. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
8. Team-oriented with strong listening and contribution skills.
9. Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships, including with account management and head office.
10. Demonstrates seniority and persuasiveness.
11. Fluent in English; proficiency in French or German is a plus.
12. Ability to work independently and willingness to travel regularly to Geneva (monthly).
