This role is to manage MassChallenge Switzerland'sEvents.It is a paid 6-month internship from May to end October. The role reports to theProgram Manager.
Since 2016 MassChallenge Switzerland has helped 1’175 startups grow their businesses and raise over CHF 2.9Bn in funding.We operate 2 programs: an Accelerator and a Sustainable Food & Materials Challenge. We are partnered with large corporations – Bühler, Givaudan, dsm-firmenich, Louis Dreyfus Company, SIG – and together with investors and experts help startups grow and transform businesses & economies. We are a non-profit.
The successful candidate should expect to make a big impact both inrunning our events and helping startups get value from the program. MassChallenge events range from multi-day intensive startup bootcamps to partner site visits, to startup demo-days to curriculum lectures and workshops. They are hosted at our office, our partners’ locations, at 3rdparty venues, and online. The role also helps the Program Manager run our business curriculum. Both our eventing program and business curriculum are established strengths of our operation. Finally, the successful candidate will have a lot of contact with startups in this role, they will even manage about 15 startups helping them get value from our program. Responsibilities
1. Plan& execute the operations of major eventsfrom start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives.
2. Lead event design; sourcing,purchasing, and managingsuppliers(ie catering, audio-visual & live-streaming).
3. Coordinateall operations related to successful events(ie speaker management, logistics details).
4. Be proactive on the floor during physical events and step up to resolve any problems that might occur.
5. Follow up after eventsto thank speakers, get feedback from participants and analyzethe event’s success makingsuggestionsfor the future.
6. Help manage partners events and demo-days. Understand partner requirements providing strongcustomer service. Run events as Master of Ceremony introducing startups and speakers.
7. Own “The Service” Partners Program from start to finish, including setup, execution and follow-ups.
8. Overview collaborations with regional partners (SPEI, Innovaud, etc.)
9. Lead back-office operations in pitching coaching sessions (weekly Pitch Club, Pitch the VC & Pitch the Partner).
10. Own the 1:1 relationship with c.15 startups, helping them get the most out of the Program.
Profile
* BSc/BA in hospitality management or related field.
* Experiencein managing events. Note significant professional work experience is not expected and this role has been a rewarding internship for recent graduates.
* High sense of accountabilityand attention to detail.A knack for problem-solving. Veryhands-on.
* Outstanding communicationskills. Enjoys talking with new people.
* An autonomous worker, whogetsstuffdone.Excellent organizational skills.
* Computer savvy; proficient in MS Office.
* Team player who will contribute across the team during judging & events.
* Swiss Resident/National. Based in Lausanne.
* Driver’s License and good driving record.
* FluentFrench andEnglish written & spoken (C1/C2).
