We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Data Platform Engineer to strengthen our engineering unit in Zürich to support our banking client in a hybrid working environment.
As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will lead the design, development and maintenance of scalable data platforms that support analytics, data science and business applications. You will take ownership of the architecture, implementation and optimization of data pipelines, big data frameworks and cloud-based solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of distributed systems, database management and data governance principles.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with expertise in data platform technologies and is comfortable mentoring a team while collaborating across data engineering, analytics and product teams.

Responsibilities
* Prepare data pipelines and support data troubleshooting
* Develop XML based ingestion pipeline into Data Platform using Hive/S3
* Develop IBM MQ native based schemaless data ingestion (extending from AVA to MQ)
* Understand application-level integration, system interfaces and data exchange logic
* Design data ingestion and transformation strategies aligned with metadata, historization and business domains
* Collaborate with business and platform stakeholders to define target state architecture for key use cases
* Support transition of data products, schemas and pipelines into scalable, governed frameworks
* Evaluate opportunities to simplify, consolidate and modernize across data zones and ETL flows
* Recommend future-proof design choices based on architecture, security and platform readiness
Requirements
* Solid experience in data engineering within complex on-premise environments
* Hands-on Big Data experience using common open source components (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Trino, Airflow/NiFi, MinIO, K8S, Kafka)
* Good knowledge of SQL, preferably in mixed environments (i.e. classic DWH and distributed)
* Deep knowledge of Python and data mapping/documentation using industry best practices
* Strong understanding of data modeling standards and processes
* Strong understanding of data modeling tools (cleansing, Meta Data etc.)
* Good skills with IBM MQ
* Good knowledge of banking data products/financial sector
* Solid knowledge around financial data classification/sensitivity
* Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools
* Fluent English skill is a must, German language skill is a significant advantage
