Scientist in Treeline Dynamics and Ecosystem Functions in Mountain Regions 80-100% (f/m/d)
Join us as a Scientist in Treeline Dynamics and Ecosystem Functions in Mountain Regions 80-100% (f/m/d) at the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL.
Position Overview
You will investigate treeline dynamics and ecosystem functions in mountain regions under global change. Using existing datasets, collecting new data, and applying innovative methods, you will quantify and predict ecosystem changes near treeline and in adjacent mountain ecosystems. Your research will enhance understanding of changing mountain ecosystems and support effective planning for nature-based protection and other measures to optimize ecosystem functions and services.
You will develop research projects, seek third-party funding, and lead projects independently and collaboratively. Engaging with stakeholders will help align your research with practical challenges, fostering cooperation between practice, administration, and science. You will supervise MSc and PhD students, as well as PostDocs, and publish your findings in international journals, presenting at conferences and contributing to practical applications. Your work will significantly advance this research area nationally and internationally.
