Role
Following a growth in our portfolio of activities, we're seeking an additional (Junior) Financial Controller.
The Financial Controller is a foundational member of the Business & Financial Controlling team, responsible for supporting trade transaction processing, data entry, and financial reporting tasks. The role emphasizes hands-on accounting activities, ensuring accuracy in daily operations and contributing effectively to team projects. The incumbent will collaborate directly with members of the business to gain practical experience in commodity trade accounting, internal controls, and compliance.
Responsibilities
* Perform detailed reconciliation of SAP balance sheet accounts with items generated from the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system
* Implement period end financial reporting procedures, ensure accuracy in valuations and validate completeness of financial data across all trading portfolios.
* Analyze trading balance sheet to identify anomalies, optimize netting and propose IFRS adjustments
* Assist in financial reporting activities, including large data analysis.
* Collaborate closely with trading, operations, risk management, and IT teams to optimize and streamline transaction processing, control frameworks, and financial reporting systems.
* Contribute to automation efforts to streamline daily reporting processes for trading activities
Qualifications & Competences:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with professional accounting qualification or equivalent.
* 1-4 years of practical accounting experience, involving data cleansing and reconciliations.
* Fundamental understanding of financial concepts, accounting principles.
* Attention to detail and ability to accurately manage tasks.
* Proficiency in Excel and coding skills, with familiarity or willingness to learn SAP financial systems.
* Effective communication skills and ability to work closely within a team.
* Organized approach to managing workload, with ability to prioritize and meet regular deadlines.
* Eager to learn and develop within a structured accounting environment.
