The Digital Content Creator will support IUCN’s communications strategy by producing high-quality, impactful, and platform-specific content that enhances IUCN’s visibility, engagement, and influence on social media. The role will also ensure effective organisation, accessibility, and long-term preservation of multimedia resources through the management of IUCN’s digital asset management (DAM) system.
Content Creation and Social Media (60%):
* Research, draft, edit, and publish content for IUCN’s global social media channels, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and messaging.
* Adapt technical and scientific information into clear, compelling, and accessible content for diverse audiences.
* Collaborate with IUCN programmes, projects, and regions to gather stories, visuals, and materials for digital campaigns.
* Produce multimedia content (short-form videos, graphics, reels, infographics, animations) optimised for each platform and mobile-first consumption.
* Monitor and analyse engagement and performance metrics to support reporting and continuously improve content effectiveness.
* Spot and adapt to emerging trends, formats, and audience behaviours across platforms to maximise reach and relevance.
* Support community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and interactions in line with IUCN’s voice and guidelines.
* Contribute to the planning and execution of communication campaigns and digital events.
* Support the capacity building of content creation skills and expertise among IUCN communication staff working in regions and for projects.
Digital Asset Management (30%):
* Manage and maintain IUCN’s digital asset management (DAM) system, ensuring resources are well-organised, tagged, and easily retrievable.
* Support staff and partners in uploading, cataloguing, and accessing digital assets according to established standards.
* Develop and maintain guidelines, training materials, and best practices for DAM use across the organisation.
* Ensure compliance with copyright, data protection, and branding guidelines in the storage and use of digital assets.
* Strengthen the discoverability and re-use of content for institutional campaigns and initiatives.
Other activities (10%):
* Carry out other activities to support the communication objectives of IUCN.
REQUIREMENTS:
* A university degree in communications, journalism, digital media, environmental studies, or a related field.
* Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex information into engaging and accessible content.
* Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok etc.) and their best practices.
* Knowledge of mobile-first, short-form video editing and design tools (e.g. CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
* Good knowledge of basic social media analytics, with the ability to draw insights and make content recommendations.
* Keen interest in social media audience behaviours, emerging trends, and the latest tools and features.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Awareness of copyright, intellectual property, and ethical considerations in digital content use.
* Interest in conservation and sustainable development issues.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.
* Proficiency in English (required); knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.
