About the role Currently, we have an open position for a Database Architect with experience in the area of databases, application deployment, monitoring and performance tuning. The ideal candidate would be able to execute proof-of-concept single-handedly, propose solutions including optimization and lead a cross-functional team in a technical leadership position. This role is based in the Development team at CloudSigma but will be cross-functionally linked to the Operations and DevOps teams. Responsibilities Ensure the availability, stability and performance of databases in hundreds of Gigabytes size. Maintain and improve our backup and restore mechanisms and policies. Keep up to date with new releases of PostgreSQL and work together with our development team to keep our systems happily buzzing along Creating runbooks for deployment, administration and maintenance of Linux and Unix based physical and virtual servers in more than 20 worldwide locations Act as an escalation point for issues, which cannot be solved by our other departments Performance, stability and security optimizations Own the monitoring and incident management aspects of the database Requirements Experience with PostgreSQL; Design, Administration, Replication, Clusterization. 3 years of senior level experience with Linux and Unix based server environments Architect level (200) Experience with noSQL or Time-based database concepts and when to implement what based off the use-case Experience with automation (preferably in Puppet or willingness to learn Puppet) Fluent in English Language, both written and verbal Considered a plus: WIllingness to learn new solutions and a “why not” mindset Experience with virtualization (KVM) Experience with Docker virtual containers Experience automating with Python or using Python as a Dev language Experience running production grade MySQL Experience running production grade solutions on ZFS, Experience with a managed Kubernetes platform of choice.
