Chip Designer for particle physics research on the CMS experiment

The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is Switzerland's largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences. We conduct cutting-edge research in future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and fundamental sciences. Our work aims to develop sustainable solutions for major societal, scientific, and economic challenges. PSI is dedicated to training future generations, with about a quarter of our staff being post-docs, post-graduates, or apprentices. PSI employs approximately 2300 people.


Position Overview

We are seeking a Chip Designer to contribute to particle physics research within the CMS experiment at CERN. This role involves designing readout ASICs for advanced detector systems, supporting detector upgrades, and engaging in collaborative research and dissemination of findings.


Your Tasks

* Lead the design of readout ASICs for monolithic or hybrid pixel detectors.
* Coordinate design efforts for applications in FCC-ee detectors.
* Assist in testing and characterizing prototype devices.
* Present research results at conferences and in scientific publications.


Your Profile

* PhD or equivalent experience in physics or electronics engineering, with an interest in particle physics.
* Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics, with experience in ASIC design.
* Proficiency in English and good communication skills.
* Motivated, independent, innovative, and collaborative, with an interest in international research environments.
