Ihre Aufgaben
Asking the right questions, generating insights, and applying knowledge purposefully – you understand learning as a strategic leadership tool. With analytical acuity, methodological versatility, and a strong commitment to evidence-informed practice, you help make impact visible and embed learning processes sustainably.
Fondation Botnar is a philanthropic foundation based in Basel and dedicated to improving the wellbeing of young people who increasingly live, learn, work, connect, and play in urban and digital environments worldwide. Our team develops, accompanies, and reflects on project portfolios together with partners in selected countries. Evidence‑informed decision‑making and continuous learning and reflection are essential components of our approach.
Strategic Learning & Evaluation Manager
In this role, you will help shape a learning‑focused and impact‑oriented culture within the team and support the further development of an evidence‑based portfolio practice. You will contribute to building a coherent system for collecting, analysing, and using evidence, preparing insights in a clear and accessible way, and ensuring their relevance for strategic decision‑making. You will advise internal colleagues and external partners on the design of monitoring, evaluation, and learning approaches and ensure that programmes are equipped with robust MEL components. You will also help strengthen the MEL capacities of our partners, contribute to building long‑term support structures in the countries where we work, and facilitate learning processes at both partner and portfolio level. In addition, you represent the foundation in relevant professional communities, bringing fresh ideas and good practices into the organisation.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree or equivalent qualification; experience in developing and implementing MEL approaches in complex systems and social change contexts.
* Familiarity with a range of methodological approaches to evidence and knowledge generation and value participatory learning processes that integrate diverse perspectives, particularly those of young people.
* Experience in low‑ and middle‑income countries, as well as knowledge relevant to the foundation’s themes or venture philanthropy/impact investing, is an advantage.
* Fluent in English and ideally also in German or French.
* Learning agility, strong collaboration skills, an independent working style, and willingness to travel up to 20% of your time.
* Valid Swiss work permit or citizenship of an EU/EFTA country is required.
