Job Description:
The Test Engineer tests and evaluates medical device products and materials and is responsible for planning, coordinating, preparing, and executing recurring product tests. In this hands‑on role, the engineer contributes to the research, characterization, verification, and risk assessment of medical implants and instruments. Working closely with R&D and Quality Engineering, the Test Engineer helps ensure the testability of requirements and develops comprehensive test methods that verify the safety and efficacy of medical devices. The role also includes identifying opportunities to improve testing processes, quality, and team efficiency.
Responsibilities include:
* Planning, coordinating, preparing, and performing recurring product tests.
* Performing verification tests to support regulatory submissions.
* Conducting investigational tests to support new product development and quality investigations.
* Conducting research testing to improve product designs.
* Evaluating and interpreting product test results.
* Preparing test reports and rationales for customers.
* Commissioning investigations in internal and external laboratories in the area of product testing.
* Participation in the development or introduction of new test methods.
* Providing technical support to project teams.
* Meeting DePuy Synthes–specific ISO and FDA requirements in the area of product testing.
* Influencing required material and product quality as well as related manufacturing processes.
* Supporting the acquisition of equipment and test instruments.
* Support laboratory operations activities an needed, such as equipment maintenance, servicing and repair.
* Support more senior staff in updating, maintaining, or creating work instructions and other quality‑relevant documents in document management systems.
* Collaborating with the global R&D laboratory organization in the area of product testing.
* Fostering and maintaining close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.
* Providing technical support during internal and external audits and regulatory inquiries
* Providing technical support to the Senior/Staff Test Engineer.
* Providing technical guidance to Laboratory Test Specialists.
* Responsible for communicating business‑related issues or opportunities to the next management level
* Responsible for complying with all company policies regarding health, safety, and environmental practices, as applicable
