Bioprocess Engineer Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Principal Bioprocess Engineer in Downstream Processing (DSP) Manufacturing. As a seasoned professional, you will be responsible for managing operational activities in DSP manufacturing, including tech transfer support, material planning, document preparation, training, and troubleshooting or deviation handling.
* Lead Interdisciplinary Teams: You will act as a functional lead for an interdisciplinary team of production personnel, supervisors, and specialists, ensuring smooth execution and high performance in assigned projects.
* Guide Commercial Manufacturing: You will guide and support commercial manufacturing in one or more defined DSP areas, such as capture, intermediate purification, polishing, or drug substance filling.
* Operate Equipment: You will ensure efficient operation of single-use and/or stainless steel equipment for therapeutic protein purification from mammalian expression systems.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's, Master's Degree, or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related Life Science subject.
* Experience: Significant work experience (>5 years) in Downstream Processing Manufacturing in the biotech/biopharma industry, e.g., chromatography, ultra-/diafiltration, and final filling.
* Skills: In-depth knowledge of downstream processing techniques, excellent GMP understanding, and good knowledge of MES/DeltaV system.
* Languages: Excellent communication skills in English and/or German.
* Teamwork: Strong team orientation and structured, well-organized working attitude and solution-oriented working style.
Key Responsibilities

3. Guide and support commercial manufacturing in one or more defined DSP areas, such as capture, intermediate purification, polishing, or drug substance filling.
4. Ensure efficient operation of single-use and/or stainless steel equipment for therapeutic protein purification from mammalian expression systems.
5. Lead large-scale cross-functional optimization projects.
