Job Description
DePuy Synthes Companies of Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Manager, Planning – External Operations to be based in Cork, IE, West Chester, PA, Raritan, NJ, Zuchwil, CH. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics' company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Responsibilities
The role will lead External Operations planning activities for a portfolio of products to meet DePuy Synthes service level, global inventory and agility objectives.
Drive service, inventory and agility performance across external supply chains and have direct accountability for planning activities and product flow from external partner manufacturing facilities through to delivery of product into the J&J distribution network.
Utilize data to drive continuous improvement of supply chain processes in a systematic manner.
Develop and execute a capacity and supply planning strategy that will yield significant results and take the company to the next level of supply chain performance. Establish and improve key performance metrics.
Areas of responsibility include control tower management, short term exception management (STEM) & issue resolution, capacity planning, inventory management, product deployment, maintaining planning parameters, new product launch management, and coordination of activities across receiving inspection and distribution centers.
Act as an “Air‑traffic‑controller” between external manufacturing integration teams & Global Plan/Value Stream Leads for escalation of STEM and systemic external manufacturing supply issues.
Periodically evaluate planning system parameters & settings that influence net requirements planning and inventory targets.
Lead and develop a process to effectively receive worldwide demand plans from the franchise planning organizations; conduct a formal process to rationalize demand with available global capacity, service/inventory targets, and output a production plan that is “best fit” for these requirements.
Bring an understanding of contemporary best practice in supply chain/planning management with an ability to coach and develop others.
Work in a complex matrix manner across J&J and worldwide network of external partners.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience within supply chain.
Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, or Operations (preferred).
Either 8 years of related experience in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Business Analytics, and/or Supply Chain Management, or 6 years of related experience with a Master’s degree.
Advanced (MBA) degree is preferred.
Required Skills

Communicate clearly and concisely across all levels of the company and across the global supply chain.
In‑depth knowledge of MRP and conceptual knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/JDE/APO/OMP).
Demonstrated capability in scenario planning.
Experience with Sales & Operations Planning, New Product Introduction planning, and control tower process.
Preferred Skills
Advanced statistical knowledge and experience in building simulation models.
Experience working in a manufacturing and medical devices environment (strongly preferred).
Experience and/or certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodology, APIC/CPIM certification.
