Overview
Design, Build and Launch Switzerland’s Next Bi-Liquid Rocket to 9km: HERMES II
ARIS’s next-generation bi-liquid vehicle will soon begin development, a system leveraging the lessons of HERMES to push for maximum altitude and recovery precision in the 9km liquid category at EuRoC 2026. Featuring liquid propulsion, guided recovery, and optimized mass components, this project will push the integration and performance boundaries of student rocketry under the 40’960 Ns limit.
The Role
As part of the Engine Design Subsystem, you’ll work on combustion chamber design, injector plate geometry, cooling channels, and nozzle optimization. The work is highly iterative, with hotfire campaigns used to verify designs under real conditions. Collaboration with the Propellant Supply and Test Bench subsystems is constant.
Project Timeline
1. Recruitment: Summer 2025
2. Project Kickoff: September 2025
3. Launch: Q4 2026
