In this role, you will be responsible for providing end-to-end operational support for Microsoft data platform services, ensuring the availability, security, and performance of both cloud and on-premise environments.Reporting to the DBA Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and evolving our database infrastructure in a dynamic, high-impact environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, configure, and deploy MS SQL servers in cloud and on-premise environmentsMonitor, optimize performance, and maintain overall database healthPerform routine maintenance such as database rebuilds, reindexing, expansion, and archivingTroubleshoot SQL Server issues and support application-related incidentsExecute server upgrades, migrations, and patching activitiesSupport database code deployments and data fixes following change management processesImplement and support Disaster Recovery and High Availability (DR/HA) strategiesManage backup and recovery of local and replicated databasesProvide DBA support to development and implementation projects (installations, migrations, testing, data loading)Participate in incident management and collaborate with cross-functional teamsProvide support on a rotational on-call schedule (24x7), including after-hours and weekend supportExperience and Skills5+ years of progressive experience as a Database AdministratorAt least 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and operationsTechnical KnowledgeSQL Server (versions 2025, 2022, 2019, 2017, and earlier)Windows Server (2022, 2019, 2016)Azure SQL Managed Instance and DBaaS solutionsGCP Cloud SQL for MSSQLAlways On Availability Groups and database replicationDatabase security standards and data encryptionBackup, recovery, reindexing, and database optimization techniquesInstallation and configuration of MSSQL services: Database Engine, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Power BI, PolyBase, and R ServicesSQL Server and application-level query tuningSoft SkillsStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsAdvanced troubleshooting and automation capabilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFast learner with strong collaboration abilitiesNice To HaveKnowledge of T-SQL and scripting languagesEducationDegree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related fieldMicrosoft Data Platform certifications are an assetRecommendations For Your ApplicationMake sure you have been in your current position for at least one year.Confirm that you meet the essential requirements.Talk to your current supervisor and let them know about your application.Remember that you can only apply for one position at a time.To participate in Scotiabank’s internal job postings, you must ensure that your Talent Profile is 100% up to date.Scotiabank is an inclusive company that respects diversity and does not engage in any form of discrimination.Location(s): Mexico : Ciudad de México : Cuauhtémoc
