The Sales Engineer/Solutions Architect is responsible for providing presales support to Barracuda’s customers. This role facilitates workshops, validates technical requirements, answers advanced technical questions, delivers product demonstrations, manages POV/POC process, and collaborates with sales teams on sales opportunities. It also follows up with prospective customers during the evaluation phase to ensure they have the necessary support and information.
Responsibilities:
Gather client requirements, perform fit-gap analysis, and shape high‑level client solutions based on Barracuda’s products
Manage technical engagements, such as briefings, proof of concepts and architectural design sessions
Contribute to the delivery of workshops, bootcamps, and trainings necessary to build partners’ technical skills
Deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the features and benefits of network security solutions
Qualify opportunities, validate technical requirements, and provide appropriate product recommendations to ensure customer needs are met
Answer technical questions, overcome objections, and help sales position against competitive solutions to secure customer buy‑in
Respond to RFIs and RFPs and engage with appropriate internal resources like sales, product management, product marketing, CSE’s, and others when necessary to help close opportunities
Conduct security assessments and audits of client networks to identify vulnerabilities and recommend solutions for remediation
Follow up with prospective customers during the evaluation phase to ensure they have the necessary support and information
Collaborate with sales teams to ensure the smooth transition of projects from pre‑sales to post‑sales phase and offer guidance on network security design and configuration based on client requirements
Leverage specialized sales engineering knowledge in breadth and/or depth to a variety of issues/projects within the team
Work in a project‑oriented manner contributing towards team‑level goals
Work closely with channel solutions teams to identify customer needs and provide tailored solutions
Assist channel solutions team in analyzing sales data and/or developing strategies for sales process improvement
Work with Key Channel Partners and Distributors to help them build competency
Technical Know How:
Microsoft 365: knowledge of the M365 suite and its administration
Network & Infrastructure Security: hands‑on experience with WAN/LAN, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls, QoS, and SNMP
Data Protection: Knowledge of server and cloud backup solutions
Vast experience in mail security
Proven success in sales engineering or consulting
Familiarity with security threat vectors
CompTIA Security+ or similar certification is a plus
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in Sales Engineering or a similar technical pre‑sales role
Fluent in English and French or German (written and spoken)
Strong understanding of cybersecurity, including email, users, remote users, networks, and applications
Knowledge of the email security market and current threat landscape
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities
Proven ability to support the sales cycle and help close business while ensuring high customer satisfaction
Willingness to travel up to 50%
Good knowledge of the Swiss market and ability to design solutions tailored to client needs
