POSITION SUMMARY
The Underwiriting Risk Advisory Senior Analyst supports the design, development, and delivery of analytical solutions and transformation initiatives in support of Underwriting. As a member of the Risk Advisory team, the Senior Analyst contributes to the development of expertise, tools and models used by underwriters and analysts to assess insured risks and evaluate the expected financial performance of the underwriting portfolio.
The role applies quantitative analysis to business problem-solving and change management, with a focus on practical adoption and measurable outcomes.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Stakeholder Management
* Collaborate with individual stakeholders to understand requirements, refine problem statements and shape solutions
* Support change management by facilitating understanding, adoption, and sustained use of new tools, processes, or analytical approaches
* Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
Organisational Skills
* Scope, plan and run initiatives within the Risk Advisory domain
* Ensure problem statements are well-defined and aligned with business priorities
* Engage with external vendors and partners where appropriate
Quantitative & Analytical
* Conduct data analysis using statistical and computational techniques to generate insights that support decision-making.
* Develop and use tools to automate recurring tasks and reporting processes
* Apply rigorous data validation and documentation standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and interpretability
* Produce high quality analyses, reports, and presentations tailored to stakeholder needs.
Analysis, Solution Design & Delivery
* Translate business needs into analytical and technical requirements
* Contribute to the design, evaluation, and refinement of solutions
* Monitor progress and ensure alignment with objectives
* Review existing processes and systems, identifying opportunities for simplification, improvement, or increased effectiveness
Innovation
* Stay informed on industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation.
* Contribute to the evolution of analytical and business change practices.
* Continuously build technical and domain expertise through training, applied work, and self-directed learning.
* Actively participate in knowledge sharing within the team.
EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:
* A degree in a scientific, technical or economic discipline or equivalent practical experience
* Typically 2-4 years' experience in a quantitative, technical or analytical role (experience in (re)insurance or financial services is a plus)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on data analysis experience
* Curiosity and drive to continuously improve, while contributing positively to team development.
* Proficiency in Excel and at least one programming language
* Proven written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
