Our client, an internationally renowned engineering company in the energy infrastructure solutions industry, is seeking a highly skilled leader to head their structural engineering function. Based in the Zurich area, the company delivers advanced, high-reliability systems for global customers, using cutting-edge design tools and methodologies.
In this role, you will manage a diverse, international team and oversee the successful execution of complex engineering projects from sales handover through to delivery. You will report directly to the Head of Project Engineering and benefit from a high level of autonomy.
Your mission
- Lead a team of 1 team leader, 12 structural project managers, and a small competency team in Switzerland.
- Provide functional leadership to structural engineering teams located in India and the Czech Republic.
- Take full technical and commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on cost, time, and scope from engineering to production and final handover.
- Conduct structured project reviews and define contingency measures when needed.
- Drive process improvements in engineering and project management, optimizing workflows across the value chain in collaboration with other departments.
- Lead design optimizations and cost-reduction initiatives following the Design-to-Value methodology.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and positive change within the team.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (an advantage).
- Experience in steel construction; knowledge of complex engineered systems is a plus.
- Several years in a leadership position with readiness to take on the role of Head of Structural Engineering.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Scia, STAAD Pro, Tekla).
- Strong communication and organizational skills with experience in intercultural collaboration.
- Proven project management experience; PMP certification is an advantage.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
