Overview
EMEA Recruitment are currently assisting a global leader in the consumer industry with a search for a Packaging Operations Manager to lead their operations in Zurich, Switzerland. This is a critical leadership position responsible for the complete lifecycle of packaging manufacturing processes, with a focus on optimising line performance and ensuring product integrity.
Key Responsibilities
* Operational Excellence: Lead and manage high-speed production lines, ensuring all packaging processes - including filling, capping, labeling, and palletising - operate at peak efficiency and within strict quality parameters.
* Process Optimisation: Implement and oversee process improvements using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and increase throughput.
* Quality & Compliance: Maintain rigorous quality assurance protocols, ensuring compliance with GFSI standards (e.g., BRCGS, FSSC 22000), internal specifications, and local regulations.
* Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical expert for all packaging equipment, including fillers, sealers, labelers, and robotic palletisers, leading troubleshooting and preventative maintenance efforts.
* Team & Resource Management: Recruit, train, and manage a multi-skilled team of technicians and operators, while effectively managing departmental budgets and resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Specialised Experience: Proven experience in a packaging management role within the food, beverage, or FMCG sectors
* Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of packaging line technologies
* Process Improvement Skills: A track record of successfully applying methodologies like OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) to drive operational improvements.
* Quality & Safety Focus: Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, and ISO standards relevant to food and beverage production.
* Leadership & Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain departments to achieve production goals.
