What You Can Expect
As an R&D Senior Engineer in our Surgical Division, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and lifecycle support of innovative medical devices. You'll contribute both as a technical expert and as a project leader or core team member, collaborating closely with cross‑functional partners to bring high‑quality solutions from concept to market‑while meeting the highest regulatory and quality standards.
How You'll Create Impact
* Lead the development of new medical device products and manufacturing processes
* Drive design activities in compliance with Design Control and regulatory requirements
* Identify project tasks, develop work plans, and estimate resources, budgets, and timelines
* Design products for manufacturability, inspectability, and cost efficiency
* Generate and maintain design assurance and technical documentation
* Perform stress analyses, root cause investigations, and risk assessments
* Develop and oversee prototype creation and product testing
* Coordinate product evaluations with surgeons and stakeholders
* Support and mentor junior engineers through on‑the‑job training
* Contribute technical expertise to change requests, including impact analyses
This role may involve leading small‑scope projects or owning key portions of larger programs.
What Makes You Stand Out
Technical Expertise
* Strong background in mechanical design (micro‑mechanics, metal, plastics, injection molding)
* Advanced knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies
* Proficiency with CAD tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project)
* Ability to apply cross‑disciplinary engineering skills (design, materials, manufacturing, testing)
* Clear, concise, and well‑structured technical written communication
Your Background
Education & Experience
* Bachelor or Master degree in:
o Mechanical Engineering
o Biomedical/Bioengineering
o Mechanical Engineering Technology
* 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience
* Experience in the medical device industry (orthopaedics preferred)
Languages
* Fluent English (written and spoken)
* French and/or German is a plus
