Job Description - Project Support Consultant (25316)
Context / Assignment
The WIPO Division for Arab countries (DAC) defines policy objectives, designs and coordinates programs, projects and activities for the countries of Arab region. DAC provides advisory services, capacity building and technical assistance towards the implementation of development programs and projects in the region, with a view to ensuring that all countries are empowered to access the IP system in consonance with their national development goals.
Due to the project-based approach, the number of projects and partners in the region has increased to address needs of Member States and high-level meetings influence project design and implementation. The division focuses on helping SMEs, creators, innovators and communities in the Arab region generate value through IP.
Assignment
In light of the above, an English–French speaking professional with knowledge of an additional UN language (preferably Arabic) and experience in international cooperation and project management will be required to support the design, implementation and monitoring of ongoing and new DAC projects and elaboration of programmatic instruments.
Tasks / Responsibilities
* Over the assignment period, the Consultant will:
* (a) Contribute to the timely preparation and revision of the programmatic instruments and reports management of the DAC (annual work plan, the Program Performance Report, Program and Budget, others).
* (b) Participate in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of DAC annual work plan, complete DAC’s work plan forms in EPM.
* (c) Support the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects, including undertaking research, making proposals, preparing related documentation and compiling information.
* (d) Prepare country briefs, talking points and records of conversation for DG and DDG meetings with high-level authorities.
* (e) Perform other related duties as required.
Deliverables / Services
1. Under the supervision of the Director of the Division for Arab Region, the Consultant will be responsible for the following deliverables:
2. 1) Reporting and Budget Support
o Collect and compile information relevant to the Division’s activities.
o Assist in the preparation of:
o Monthly activity reports
o Managerial reports
o Program and budget proposals
o Program performance reports
o The Division’s annual budget and work plan
3. 2) Development of Conference and Training Materials
o Draft content for conferences, workshops, seminars, and training programs organized by the Division.
o Ensure that materials align with organizational standards and strategic objectives.
4. 3) Project Management Support
o Provide information and support related to project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
o Draft inputs and comments on assigned aspects of specific projects
5. 4) Preparation and Coordination of Official Engagements
o Organize and coordinate meetings, field visits, and high-level briefings.
o Prepare related documentation including agendas, briefing notes, minutes, and background material.
o Draft speeches, talking points, and other communication documents as required.
Profile
* Master’s level university degree in law, international affairs, public administration or a related discipline.
* Sound knowledge of project design, management of monitoring, with a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience at the national or international level in international cooperation.
* Knowledge of result-based framework for program and budget organization.
* Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and French.
* Experience with, and knowledge of the social, political, economic and legal context in the Arab region.
* Good knowledge of the international IP system
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills
* Confident user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the internet
Duration of contract and payment
The Contract will start on 15 October 2025 for an initial period of 6 months (until 15 April 2026), with a possibility of extension depending on performance, needs, and budget. The maximum cumulative contract duration is 24 months.
Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations of a daily rate in either Swiss francs, Euros, British Pounds, or USD.
Payment will be made on a monthly basis, subject to submission of invoices by the Contractor, satisfactory completion of services and deliverables.
Additional information
ICS contractors fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The contractor has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the contractor’s payment on a pro-rated basis.
