Overview
Capex Project Cost Manager – Pharma EPCM (6459). 12-month contract with extension potential, based in Visp, Switzerland. Our client is a leading pharmaceutical company focused on biopharmaceuticals, expanding its current facilities globally and requiring professionals to support the growth. This role is responsible for cost management and overseeing costs and cost reporting of projects through various project stages.
Responsibilities
* Have a broad understanding of the many business aspects of a project, as well as a level of technical knowledge of the project scope and content.
* Understand the roles of Estimating, Planning, Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and the Project Leadership Team.
* Develop and maintain interfaces with the project team, stakeholders, partners, SME, and advisors to exchange information relevant to Cost Management processes.
* Interface with the Estimating Team on the estimating development process through CAR approval.
* Functional responsibility to the Project Control Manager (PCM) for ensuring that Cost Control processes are operated in conformance with procedures.
* Implement and operate all core Cost Manager responsibilities and processes, supporting Budget Owners with delegated accountability.
* Coordinate with Planning and Engineering Teams to early capture deviation to the baseline.
* Provide support in the development of Project Cost Estimates and transition from Estimate to Control Budget.
* Identify and establish all project interfaces (including systems) and define protocols, responsibilities, and contacts for administering and controlling these interfaces.
* Provide accurate and timely Cost Reports to Project Leadership and other stakeholders for inputs to corporate reporting deadlines.
* Ensure Engineering Partner and Contractors have proper methodologies and tools in line with project control requirements (e.g., Payment applications, material trending, productivity analysis, change log).
* Establish cost management processes at the project level.
* Maintain cost reporting (Budget, Commitments, Value of Work Done, Accruals, FX, Estimate to Complete, Estimate at Completion, Phasing) based on internal and 3rd party inputs, validated by independent evaluation.
* Support Project Leadership in managing resources and forecasting overruns or potential savings.
* Provide robust estimates and EAC reports to Project Leadership.
* Support Change, Risk & Opportunity Management on cost impact calculation.
* Manage contingency draw down and run down according to guidelines.
* Support project close out activities including asset activation and commercial close out and benchmarking.
* Provide management, oversight and support to other cost engineers as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
* Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying or equivalent
* Excellent English language ability, with Business German being advantageous (B2 level minimum)
* 10+ years of experience as a Cost Manager for large (>250 Mio CHF) pharmaceutical projects in EPCM organisations; preferably as Client representative in Pharma Companies
* Ability to interpret cost data clearly and communicate to senior management
* Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
* Microsoft Office proficient
* Proficiency in SAP, SAP Ariba and Oracle Primavera Unifier is desirable
* Experience in a global environment
* Experience in pharmaceutical projects using Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning contracts
* Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze large data sets and support decisions
* Ability to handle ambiguity and shifting priorities
