Flow Studio is an independent game studio currently working on its debut title, Len's Island, which will be officially released in version 1.0 in late 2024. With a strong public presence and a successful YouTube channel, we showcase game development behind the scenes and build a passionate community around our projects.
Job Description:
As the Managing Director & Lead Game Designer, you will take ownership of every aspect of Flow Studio. In this multi-faceted role, you will direct the studio as CEO and Managing Director, while also acting as Lead Game Designer for all games developed.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Set and execute the studio's strategic vision and goals.
Secure funding, manage investor relations, and represent the studio at industry events and in the media.
Coordinate efforts across global development teams to ensure efficient communication and maintain the development vision.
Game Development:
Drive decision-making on all product features and manage game development through all phases.
Develop and manage the game's core mechanics, gameplay systems, and overall design vision.
Create detailed design documents, including game flowcharts, level designs, and gameplay prototypes.
Conduct playtesting, gather feedback, and iterate on design elements to refine gameplay.
Operational Management:
Develop financial forecasts and implement strategies for business growth and long-term profitability.
Ensure accountability in sales, marketing, and production through data and weekly reporting.
Participate in all relevant meetings with key stakeholders to communicate progress and updates.
Content Creation:
Act as a multi-faceted game developer to create UI systems, 3D art and animations, core gameplay systems, and manage all game audio production.
Help build and maintain a YouTube community around the game studio and be one of the faces of the YouTube channel to market game releases and showcase development.
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a Managing Director/CEO role of a prominent game studio.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Lead Game Designer.
Minimum 5 years of experience managing a successful YouTube channel centered around game design.
Successfully shipped multiple commercial video games to PC and Mac platforms.
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Game Design or Game Art
Extensive Game Art portfolio to a high standard
High-level experience with Unity Built-In, Universal, and High-Definition Render Pipelines.
Knowledge of Maya, Blender, Houdini, Post Processing, Odin Inspector, Steamworks, Particle Systems, Unity UI Elements, Procedural Generation, Networking Game Architecture, and Unity's Terrain Engine.
Strong understanding of gaming business performance indicators.
High-level experience in Unity game development across all game engine versions.
High-level experience with the full Adobe Suite, version control software (e.g., Git, SourceTree), and UI design in Unity.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. o Fluency in English.
Preferred:
Fluency in an additional APAC language (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean,etc.).
