Through the Eurovision News Exchange (EVN) — the world’s largest and longest-running news exchange — we deliver over 140 live and edited news items daily from more than 70 EBU Members, sublicensees, and media partners in over 50 countries.
Built on principles of editorial integrity, solidarity, and collaboration, the News Department is at the heart of the EBU’s mission to serve its Members with reliable, impartial, and timely news coverage from around the world.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
As News Producer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the content shared via the Eurovision News Exchange. Working within an international team of journalists, you will:
* Exercise excellent news judgment and maintain a strong awareness of global and national stories through diverse sources.
* Edit and manage live and recorded video, audio, and text content for distribution to Members and partners.
* Ensure the delivery of accurate, relevant, and up-to‑date news material to participants in the News Exchange.
* Collaborate with EBU Members and content partners to meet editorial needs and support the strategic goals of the News Department.
* Contribute to digital newsgathering and embrace emerging technologies in a 24‑hour, fast‑paced news environment.
* Occasionally support major events or special EBU news projects in the field.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 3 years’ newsroom experience with proven journalistic and editorial expertise.
* Excellent writing and sub‑editing skills, with a strong understanding of journalistic ethics and copyright principles.
* Proficient in broadcast news technology, video editing, and digital production workflows.
* Strong news judgment and the ability to react quickly and decisively to breaking stories.
* Familiarity with social media tools (especially X/Twitter) and digital storytelling techniques.
* Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural team.
* Flexibility to work irregular hours, including occasional night shifts.
LANGUAGE
Fluency in English is essential and a strong command of other key languages – e.g., French, German, Russian, Arabic – is desirable.
