Assist students in remedying academic and behavioral delays; consult with school staff regarding appropriate behavioral/academic interventions for students in regular education and special education for students requiring special education services. Self-contained classroom.
Qualifications License: Illinois Professional Educators License valid for Early Childhood with LBS-1 Endorsement or Special Education Approval registered in Lake County. Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Experience: Prior teaching experience or student teaching experience required; experience with educational life skills teaching, low incidence population, behavior planning, and collaboration with providers preferred. Essential Performance Abilities Command of subject matter; effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including RTI and Common Core State Standards.
Contributes to a positive school climate through the district's Strategic Plan and PBIS program.
Orders materials and supplies per district procedures, with appropriate authorization and within budgetary constraints.
Works cooperatively with other staff.
Collaborates with appropriate school personnel regarding students needing specialized interventions.
Meets and instructs assigned classes at the designated times and locations.
Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property; keeps supplies in good condition and manages repair of equipment.
Communicates regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' progress.
Prepares daily lesson plans organized to implement district curriculum and Common Core State Standards.
Uses diverse instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet individual student needs and interests.
Models a positive school climate per Strategic Plan and PBIS program.
Adheres to the guidelines in the Woodland School District 50 Staff Handbook.
Attends IEP meetings, parent meetings, problem solving team meetings, etc., when appropriate.
Selects learning content aligned with prescribed curriculum and IEP; provides modifications and accommodations per IEP.
Develops and completes measurable IEP goals and objectives; monitors progress consistently per district guidelines.
Develops, maintains, and implements Individual Education Plans per state and federal statutes.
Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs, interests, and abilities.
Utilizes various instructional techniques and media, incorporating technology and assistive technology.
Creates a learning environment suitable for the students' maturity and interests; works effectively with students of varying disabilities.
Provides classroom management and behavioral interventions for diverse students.
Prepares for classes and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
Implies the district's philosophy of education and instructional objectives through action.
Cooperatively identifies, diagnoses, and remediates individualized student needs, including RTI support when appropriate.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, policy, and regulations.
Assists administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct.
Resides available to students and parents outside instructional hours if needed.
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers.
Strives to improve professional competence by attending professional development activities.
Demonstrates responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly.
Collaborates with parents to enhance their child’s educational experience.
Utilizes the RTI model to review data, set academic goals, and implement interventions.
Establishes standards of pupil conduct aligned with handbook and PBIS for a safe environment.
Maintains accurate, complete, and up‑to‑date records of attendance, projects, and grades.
Gathers and maintains records of grades and assessment data for placement decisions.
Administers state and local standardized tests and interprets results to identify strengths and needs.
Participates in team, department, faculty meetings and professional development.
Stays current with developments in subject area, resources, and methods, updating instructional plans as needed.
Adheres to all school and district policies, including confidentiality.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Principal, Assistant Principal, or Supervisor. Must be able to use a white board/smartboard, i Pads with various apps, online assessment tools, Microsoft Office and Google programs, and district email/voicemail systems.

June 8, 2026 – July 2, 2026; Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Salary Range
Minimum of $48.96 per hour. (Current D50 employees in this position will be paid their current rate of pay.)
