As a Field Application Engineer, you’ll be joining a team of application engineers who specialize in both hardware and software aspects of our robotics systems. Your primary focus will be on deploying a novel mobile robotic system for automating tasks in industrial environments such as manufacturing etc. This exciting role involves working closely with end‑users at early adopter customer sites, providing field feedback to the research and development (R&D) teams, gaining hands‑on experience with our product. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our product and offer technical support to clients. Overall, it’s a dynamic role that bridges engineering expertise with customer interaction.
Your Mission
* to ideate and develop new features facilitating integration into the customer's stack
* Conduct basic hardware and software product demonstrations and trainings showcasing technical features and processes to prospective and existing customers and at fairs
* Organize, set up and configure our robotic system in new environments with specific customer needs and organize logistics around travels involved
* Interact directly with customers, actively obtaining their valuable feedback, and work collaboratively with them to offer valuable insights to our development teams
* Verify optimal product functionality following enhancements or maintenance by conducting user‑focused testing
* Prepare operating instructions, provide technical support, and consult customers on the feasibility and requirements for their projects
* Support the business team in planning and scoping integration activities of our product into the customer's application
Your Skillset
* Degree in Engineering with a focus on robotics, computer science, automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or comparable
* Proficiency in software engineering in C++ and Python in an embedded Linux environment
* Experience and interest working with hardware such as embedded devices & sensors or robotics
* Receptive with customer‑centric approach, prioritizing the customer in decision‑making
* Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking and reporting skills with great independency
* Confidence in troubleshooting hardware related issues and when performing small mechanical and electronics work (experience with mechanical and electrical engineering is a plus)
* Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal
* Ability to travel (30‑40% with peaks), driver’s license (cat B) and based in Zurich
