The Idiap Research Institute, as part of the ERC Advanced Grant BALM, invites applications for two PhD student positions focused on representation learning for large language models (LLMs). The successful candidates will join the Natural Language Understanding group, led by Dr. James Henderson, and will contribute to research at the intersection of machine learning and natural language processing. The research will involve advancing representation learning for language by augmenting LLMs with the group’s recent Bayesian extension of transformers and knowledge graph embeddings.
Requirements
– A strong academic background in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, or related fields
– Demonstrated interest or experience in representation learning, deep learning, or language models
– Excellent programming skills
– Proficiency in written and spoken English
– Eligibility for admission to the EPFL PhD program
