About Our Client
We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Business Developer for Raw Materials to expand our client's presence across the European market. You will be responsible for identifying trading opportunities, developing client relationships, and executing physical ethanol deals, focusing on both industrial and fuel-grade applications.
Fluency in English and German is essential for effective operation across key European markets.
Job Description
* Sales & Business Development
o Define and execute go-to-market strategies by geography, customer segment, and sales channel.
o Manage and grow sales within our existing European customer base in the ethanol segments (potable and industrial).
o Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
o Maintain regular contact with key accounts and prospects; conduct client visits (approximately 5 days/month).
o Create marketing materials and sales presentations tailored to customer needs.
* Market Intelligence & Reporting
o Lead structured reporting on customer interactions, market developments, and competitor activity.
o Present quarterly and annual sales plans based on systematic mapping of European demand.
o Enhance internal reporting tools and processes in collaboration with marketing, operations, IT, and finance teams.
* Contract Execution & Operations Coordination
o Draft, review, and issue commercial contracts.
o Supervise operators to ensure timely and accurate deal execution.
o Monitor stock levels, forecast supply needs, and coordinate shipping with the chartering desk.
o Oversee blending and denaturing operations, ensuring compliance and quality standards.
* Quality & Risk Management
o Align customer quality requirements with supplier specifications.
o Identify blending and arbitrage opportunities to optimize product value.
o Oversee vessel vetting processes with support from operators and inspection companies.
* Regulatory Oversight
o Stay updated on relevant EU regulations: excise duties, customs duties (including duty-free quotas), denaturants, REACH compliance, and sector-specific regulations (food, cosmetics, pharma, etc.).
o Coordinate internal research and compliance efforts with traders, operators, analysts, and external consultants.
The Successful Applicant
* Fluent in English and German (both oral and written); knowledge of French is a plus.
* Proven experience in business development or sales with strong commercial acumen.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Motivated to succeed in a fast-paced international trading environment.
* Willingness to learn about ethanol trading and navigate complex regulatory frameworks.
