Under the supervision of the Director, Cocoa Sourcing & Risk Management, the individual will be responsible for maintaining the overall Cocoa category strategy and executing key components. This position will also oversee financial delivery related to our physical cocoa book, supply continuity, and operational performance of our supply base and related metrics.
Summary of Major Duties:
1. Develop and Maintain the Category Sourcing Strategy to Drive Growth and Strategic Advantage
* Source physical cocoa requirements across Hershey that meet current and future business needs, focusing on sustainability, reliability, and affordability;
* Manage the assessment, selection, and development of suppliers to meet requirements and KPIs;
* Ensure appropriate agreements and contracts are in place, providing safeguards and managing compliance;
* Research developing technologies, supply chain capacity, capabilities, and supply/demand challenges;
* Understand key sustainability requirements related to the category—collaborate with the Sustainable Sourcing team to deliver these, enhance transparency, and ensure due diligence on risks and mitigation;
* Develop risk management strategies using forward contracts and supplier monitoring aligned with business plans;
* Monitor and report on physical cocoa market conditions and trends to relevant colleagues and leadership, as well as share market information with other departments such as QRC, R&D, Plant Operations, and Manufacturing Alliances.
1. Supply Continuity and Continuous Improvement
* Establish a long-term roadmap for sourcing flexibility, substitution opportunities, and feedstock flexibility;
* Ensure Business Continuity Plans are in place;
* Lead collaboration with Supply Chain, R&D, and other departments to achieve continuous improvements such as cost savings, quality enhancements, alternate supplier qualification, supplier diversity, working capital improvement, and sourcing innovation.
2. Operational Excellence
* Lead supplier relationships, monitor performance and financial viability, and work with procurement to minimize disruptions;
* Perform root cause analysis and develop/monitor supplier improvement plans.
